 Office Volunteer

Our office is open Tues, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am-2pm to distribute spay/neuter vouchers which reduce the cost of having an animal spayed/neutered.  Eventually we would like to extend our hours pending more volunteers.  Volunteers man the office and distribute the coupons as well as answer basic questions about our program and services.  If you are interested in more information regarding volunteering in the office-even if it is outside of the listed hours, please contact Charlotte Cassin.  or call 591-9229

Event Volunteer

The Humane Society of Uvalde typically goes into the community to provide community awareness regarding the need to spay/neuter pets and education regarding animal abuse and the appropriate ways to care for a pets.  We also attend different events such as the Uvalde Ranch Rodeo in April, the Rabies drive, The Oasis Outdoor round-up and so many other events.  If you are looking for volunteer opportunities and would like to be contacted regarding volunteer opportunities, please contact Kendall Ganong.

Education Program

Our Humane Society has created an education program in an effort to reach out to the youngest of community in an effort to plant the seed of humaneness in them.  This program has a curriculum developed by teachers that is easy for any adult to relay to a class of any age.  We have programs for Dalton through the High School.  Our early childhood curriculum focuses on basic humaneness and animal care and the junior high and high school program focuses on more in depth and age appropriate issues such as chaining, dog fighting and animal abuse.  Whether you are a retired teacher or someone who enjoys being around children, we can use your help.  The commitment in this program can be as little as once a month to as frequent as you are free.  Please Contact the EDUCATION PROGRAM for more information.

City Code/Abuse Compliance Committee

A committee of people has been formed to work with city and state law enforcement officers to ensure that current laws and codes are effectively enforced within both the city of Uvalde and Uvalde County.   The primary concerns of the group include but are not limited to: issues with animal abuse, chaining, dog fighting, and ensuring appropriate shelter, food and water are being provided.  The group is working with the city/county not against.  Current topics of discussion include creation of a working plan on handling animal abuse calls/complaints, supporting the animal control officers and effective ways to enforce current laws and codes.  If this peaks your interest and you would like more information or are interested in participating in the group, contact Jeff Nelson or Melissa Garnet
