Danny is a BIG, strong boy! Danny likes to jump and needs an experienced owner and/or someone who is willing to learn how to teach him basic commands. (Please check with the office, regarding basic dog obedience classes offered in the area.) He looks like a hound, but is big, like a Great Dane. Once he learns the basics, he will be an amazing dog to have out and about. He will definitely get second glances! If you like to go walking/jogging by yourself, he would definitely give you a sense of security. Please contact Danny's owner directly at: (830)741-0494, Wesley.
New intake, please check back for more details. *Note: Felicity was adopted, but is back in rescue, through no fault of her own.
Redd is calm and enjoys giving kisses. Walking on a leash may not be Redd's favorite activity. However, with a slight tug, he is ready to go. As far as his favorite activities? Hanging out with you, giving kisses, watching TV and being held. Redd is a courtesy listing. Please contact his owner for more information : Gay: (830)591-3939.
Update: Snowy likes smaller dogs, but is not too happy with the big ones. He likes children, but would do better with an older child or one that understands dogs. Snowy is a beautiful 2 year old, neutered male, poodle. He is a HAPPY fellow! He is energetic and wants to be in the middle of everything. He loves other dogs, but gets a little hyper, at first. Snowy's led a pretty sheltered life with an older owner, who passed away. A relative tried to take Snowy, but they already had 2 dogs and it was too much. So, Snowy has found himself at Country Tails Bed and Bisquit. He thinks it is pretty exciting, but he wants a home of his own. Snowy enjoys attention. I think he will calm down in a quieter, stable environment. I think he might like a pet companion, but there may have to be a little adjustment phase. Snowy is not associated with HSU, he is a courtesy listing only. Please call the staff (Gay) at CTBB for more information: (830)591-3939.
Chelsea is an adventurist! She would love to go to a ranch or farm where she can explore. Wherever, she goes, she would like an active family. She is 3.5 years old, spayed and her shots are current. She was surrendered, due to the family not being able to contain her in their backyard. She was getting out and in harm's way. For her safety, a home with a high fence and/or someone who has the time to give her an active lifestyle. She became acquainted with my dog, but seemed a little hesitant. She might need a little adjustment time to bond with other pets in the home. I think she would love to keep squirrels out of your yard and after a hard day of squirrel chasing she would calm down and love to relax with you. She is a beauty! Chelsea is a courtesy listing ONLY. She is not associated with HSU, please call Gay directly at (830)591-3939.
Leo is very laid back and seems to be able to adapt to any situation. He did well, during his photo shoot. He would make a great addition to any family.
Kitten is a little, bitty, tiny gremlin! She is focusing on gaining weight and growing up to be a big, beautiful cat. If you have some kitty treats, she would like to grow up with you.
6/5 Notes from our photographer: What can I say about Prince? He is such a lovable dog with such a calmness about him. He's not in any hurry to go anywhere....and he's very observant. He could hear his buddies across the street at HSU barking, and he was just watching in their direction. He spotted a young boy on a bike and let out a couple of barks. He's very attentive to his surroundings. He enjoyed having the back of his ears scratched. When I sat down, he climbed up on my lap and wanted to give me sugars. He's a charmer.....I guess you could call him Prince Charming!
This girl is a staff favorite! Coming in at 70 pounds, she is a big girl. Tessa gets along amazingly with dogs of all sizes. She does very well in a crate. She is a talker and loves to roo-roo at you when talking to her. Tessa loves rolling in the grass and playing.
This girl is amazing, she does great with everyone and is so happy. Does wonderful in a crate and is very sweet.
Little One came in with Missy and Ed. Little One is the shy one of the group. However, the shyness disappears, when the cat treats come out. Would you like a little, quiet kitten to enjoy your evenings with?
Missy, Little One and Ed, what a trio of kitten cuteness! Missy is definitely the adventurous one. She has things to do, places to go and people to meet. She is curious and on the move. If you are interested in Missy, please hurry, because she is anxious to get going!
Ed is the brother to Missy (the outgoing) and LittleOne ( the introvert). Ed could be the middle child, not too hyper, not too shy. His personality is in the middle. He's just doing his job to keep everyone happy. He may just be the perfect addition to your family!
New Rescue. Check back for details. A big thank you to Country Tails Bed and Bisquit for fostering the beautiful Ruthie!
Taffy is a girl on the go! It was hard to get a picture, because she kept moving. However, she would start to purr as soon as you started petting her.
Frenchy is very sweet and happy go lucky. I don't think her tail ever stopped wagging and she looked like she was smiling in all the photos. She walked very well on her leash.

This is a courtesy listing ONLY. Please contact Kathy @ 281-703-3226 for more information. This intact 14.5 pound male dachshund mix was found on the Dry Frío river near Knippa about 9 months ago. I did not want to see him go to the pound, so I rescued him and brought him home. He was definitely someone's pet, but he doesn't have a micro chip. He has received his rabies shot, but I did not think to ask the vet about his age. Judging from the grey in his mussel, I would guess he is 5 years or older. He is very sweet and well behaved, although he still needs to learn how to walk on a leash. He is an escape artist, as he will get out of a regular collar and a harness unless you connect the two together. He has done well inside a carrier. He was able to control his bladder and bowels over night and did not wine nor bark while in the carrier. He gets along well with other dogs, but I am unsure of how he will do with cats. I have had a few cats come up to his fence and he whimpers and acts like he wants to play with them, but I have not allowed them to interact. He is super affectionate, loves to sit in your lap, and wants to be a house dog. I am currently living in my parent's carpeted/furnished house, so he is not allowed inside (as he does pee/spray everything), and it is so unfair that he has to stay outside in this heat. I would really like to see him find a loving home where he can sit on the couch with his owners and watch TV. He really likes shows with animals.
Very sweet, but shy.
Under a year old, spayed. Bunny is very sweet. She has a deformity to her front legs.
So, you want a Velcro dog? Jake is the dog for the job. He wants to be very close and stay with you. Jake is a very good dog and walks well on a leash. He is ready for an owner to be loyal to. Are you that person?
Bella is located in Campwood, TX. She is a courtesy listing ONLY. Information from the owner: Bella is part yorkie and long haired chihuahua. She is 1 and 1/2 years old. She was born on June 4 2016. She gets along fair with other dogs she has to get to know them, to make sure that the other dog or dogs won't hurt her. She gets along good with kids. She does not like to be left by herself in the house, she is fine being outside, however if you leave her by herself in the house even with another dog she will tear something up, so it's best for her to be outside or in a carrier in the house. She has never been to a vet, but has received some shots at home. For more information about Bella, call the owner directly: Cindy 830-279-2702
