HSU is a non-profit organization dedicated to managing pet    overpopulation.           

 Our education programs  emphasize the importance of spaying and neutering.

      We  offer  low cost spay and neutering services  and provide   quality   care for homeless animals through our  foster/adoption programs.   We  encourage responsible pet care,  thereby preventing cruelty to animals and indiscriminate reproduction.       Our spay/neuter discount program offers more than 40 coupons each month on a first-come, first served basis by calling  (830) 591-9229 .

We are very pleased to announce the opening of our office for distribution of Spay/ Neuter coupons.

 Currently the office is open Tuesdays - Thursdays 10Am - 2  PM. The office is housed in a dedicated area  in the south end of the City Pound on Garden Street , across from the HEB in downtown Uvalde.     This office  will allow our community to  come by in person to receive vouchers.   The MAIN purpose for the office will be to make spay neuter vouchers available to pet owners.  This office will NOT be taking in stray or giveaway animals.. It is not a shelter nor an active part of the workings of the animal pound.

Office phone will be answered  in person during scheduled staffed hours. You are always welcome to call and leave a message and we will reply asap.

SPAY/NEUTER VOUCHER VALUES:

As well as self generated income and contributions, HSU has received grants that help with the cost of neutering pets.   Spay/neuter coupon values are as follows:

Dogs 

$90 off spaying female       $70 off neutering male

Cats

$70 off spaying female     $50 off neutering male

Coupons must be used within 30 days of issue.

Medicaid recipients will receive this service free of charge, with proof of active Medicaid status.

 Participating veterinarians honoring these coupons are:

Southwest Texas Veterinary Medical Center,   

 and

  Uvalde Veterinary Clinic  

 both in Uvalde, TX

also

Southwest Animal Hospital in Carrizo Springs.
